Bristol Palin has had a tortured history with her most recent baby-daddy, Dakota Meyer. They announced their engagement within a few months of dating, then she canceled the wedding at the last minute and weeks later, she announced her second (unplanned) pregnancy. I wouldn’t have cared that Bristol’s pregnancies were unplanned, but considering she got thousands of dollars to be an abstinence advocate, I had to laugh. Anyway, Bristol stayed in Alaska during her second pregnancy and she and Dakota were in a bitter back-and-forth about the baby. Once she gave birth, he petitioned for custody and – we all assumed – a paternity test. As it turned out, Dakota was the father and Bristol had to allow Dakota access to his kid.
I assumed that everything was still somewhat bitter and melodramatic between Dakota and Bristol, but I guess not. He’s traveled to Alaska several times and I guess their relationship has thawed a great deal. Dakota posted the above Instagram this week, and a lot of people wondered if their engagement was back on, especially since Bristol seems to be wearing a diamond engagement-looking ring in the Instagram. And guess what? News broke late yesterday that Bristol and Dakota got married.
Bristol Palin is married. The daughter of Sarah Palin wed former fiance Dakota Meyer in a surprise ceremony she revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
‘Life is full of ups and downs but in the end, you’ll end up where you’re supposed to be,’ said the newlyweds. ‘We are so happy to share with loved ones the wonderful news that we got married! Hard work and God’s grace are the foundation of our new life together, and with the love and support of our family we know we can get through anything.’
The couple had planned to wed last year over Memorial Day Weekend in Dakota’s home state of Kentucky, but the wedding was called off at the last second.
Then, in December, Bristol, 25, gave birth to the couple’s daughter Sailor Grace.
Well… congrats, I guess. My theory was always that she cheated on him and he dumped her, but he wanted to give the whole mess another try once he learned about her pregnancy. I also think all of this has some sort of financial angle, but I’m waiting to hear more. We’ll see.
