How Liverpool Have Lined-up Recently
Alisson Becker starts in goal, though Caoimhin Kelleher starts in cup competitions. Joe Gomez has filled in at right-back, and Conor Bradley has had opportunities at right-back. Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk complete the backline as centre-halves.
Alexis Mac Allister has played as a six in the centre of midfield. Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and Ryan Gravenberch have shared minutes alongside him.

Darwin Nunez has started up front (or occasionally on the left), whilst Luis Diaz has started on the left wing (or occasionally on the right). Harvey Elliott and Cody Gakpo have shared minutes on the right, with Diogo Jota collecting minutes as a striker.
Liverpool Recent Form and Tactics
Liverpool continued a 19-game unbeaten streak in domestic competitions with a 1-1 draw at Fulham. This allowed them to progress to the final of the EFL Cup on an aggregate scoreline of 3-2.
A positive was that Jurgen Klopp’s side came out of the blocks quickly. The Reds had three shots inside the box within 11 minutes, including Diaz’s tie-winning goal.
This was crucial as the team has conceded first in 10/21 Premier League matches this season and have been forced to win 19 points from losing positions – a league-high. In fact, they had gone 1-0 down to Fulham inside 20 minutes in the first leg.

The goal was assisted by an incredible cross-field ball by Jarell Quansah, almost Trent Alexander-Arnold-esque. These switches are a feature in Klopp’s playstyle, not just from the Scouse right-back.
We can see this during the 4-0 win over Bournemouth when Konate (of all players) pinged the ball to Jones to kickstart the attack for Nunez’s first goal. His quick pass to Jota, who instantly played it into Nunez to roll home, exemplifies how Klopp has mastered the one-touch direct attack.

Liverpool Injuries to Consider
Klopp revealed injury news in his press conference.
It seems unlikely that Alexander-Arnold will manage to start as he “was not in team training,” but Klopp insisted he “will have to see.”
Andy Robertson may start, as he was in the squad for Fulham and is “physically ready.” However, he may be saved for the match against Chelsea on January 31.
Dominik Szoboszlai is now “in [training] completely normal. That means he is obviously ready for minutes.” The “magician” may come off the bench.

Kostas Tsimikas “is actually fit,” but “the bone healing takes much longer.” But, he is “close.”
Mohamed Salah is out for “three to four weeks” whilst Wataru Endo is away at the Asia Cup.
Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic “will not be ready for the end of this month,” whilst Joel Matip is likely out for the season following surgery.
