NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) Tekashi69 has reportedly been placed in general population at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as he awaits his bail hearing.

The MDC is notorious for inmates that are “extremely dangerous, violent, or escape-prone,” according to the U.S. Justice Department, and the rapper’s attorney told TMZ that Tekashi was placed there rather than in a segregated part of the federal penitentiary because of his “celebrity status.”

Tekashi was indicted yesterday for racketeering and firearms charges, along with five others, and faces a minimum of 32 years in prison. Federal prosecutors painted a picture not of a rapper but of a “rapping gangbanger,” or, possibly just a gangbanger who raps.

The 22-year-old was alleged in the sweeping indictment of ordering robberies and shootings of rivals to maintain the status of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, according to the New York Daily News.

“The defendant is quite violent,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Longyear reportedly said. “He’s facing a significant term of incarceration.”

A 17-page indictment alleges that Tekashi, real name Daniel Hernandez, and a crew committed an arraty of crimse over the past five years to maintain the gang’s “power, territory and profits,” with members of the Nine Trey selling heroin, fentanyl, MDMA and weed in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Prosecutors say Hernandez’s crew is his ex-manager, Kifano (Shotti) Jordan, Jensel (Ish) Butler, Faheem (Crippy) Walter, Fuguan (Fu Banga) Lovick and Jamel (Mel Murda) Jones, according to the Daily News. All are in custody.

On April 3, Hernandez, Jordan, Butler and Walter robbed rivals at gunpoint with Tekashi sitting in an SUV filming the robbery, according to the indictment. Later in April, Lovick fired a shot inside Barclays Center during a boxing match because of a beef between Hernandez and rapper Cassanova.

On July 16, Hernandez, Jordan, Butler and Walter conspired to kill “an individual who had shown disrespect to Nine Trey,” according to the indictment. Around 20 shots were fired at a cookout injuring an innocent bystander, the indictment reportedly says. In September, the feds raided an apartment belonging to Hernandez and recovered a backpack taken in the April robbery and an AR-15, Longyear reportedly said.

Lazzaro argued that Hernandez didn’t know his co-defendants prior to hiring them as management and security last year.

“He hired a couple of these people as a manager and security. That doesn’t make you a criminal,” he said. “He renounced anything to do with two of these people.”
